Stanhill Farm News!

Blood oranges are now in season. A rather gruesome name for a wonderfully sweet and beautifully coloured fruit. The inside flesh of a Blood orange is usually brilliantly dark pink, maroon or even dark blood red. A fantastic source of vitamin C and rich in other essential antioxidants!

For any marmalade makers, we also have Seville oranges available. Seville are ideal for making marmalade, although every bit of the fruit from the zest to the juice and pips can be used in cooking. The season for Seville oranges is very short so make the most of them while you can!

It is Burns Night on Sunday 25th January, when Scotland raises a glass in patriotic celebration of national bard, Robert Burns. If you are celebrating, we have Macsween traditional and vegetarian haggis available to buy from the Farm Shop! Subject to availability.

For the perfect Burns Night supper, you will need all the traditional ingredients! A mixture of neeps (swede) and tatties (potato) is the mandatory Burns Night accompaniment to haggis. Some prefer to roast the potatoes as well as boiling them, whereas others prefer to mash the two components down to a smooth puree, which works beautifully with the rough, oaty haggis.

We are awaiting new stock of our ‘By Ruby’ handmade frozen meals. Handmade food free of any additives or preservatives, made with the finest ingredients, from trusted farmers and suppliers. Choose from seven mouthwatering dishes: Classic Lasagne, Grass Fed Beef Cottage Pie, British Chicken Tikka Masala, Roasted Vegetable & Spinach Lasagne (V), Three Cheese Macaroni Cheese (V), Thai Red King Prawn Curry, and Thai Green Chicken Curry.

We are currently harvesting sprout stems, sprouts, sprout tops, kale and kalettes. Fresh from the fields, zero food miles and no plastic!

All the above products are available to buy from both our Farm Shop and Click & Collect Service, with the exception of the Macsween haggis and By Ruby meals, which are only available to buy from the Farm Shop. Subject to availability.
