Stanhill Farm News!

May is National Asparagus Month - the perfect time to try out this delicious vegetable! The British asparagus season runs from April to June and is considered to be the best in the world. When buying asparagus choose firm but tender stalks with a good colour and closed tips. Before cooking, wash in cold water and remove the ends of the stalks. Boil or steam until just tender (4-7 minutes depending on thickness). Alternatively, try it in a stir-fry, blend into soup or simply boil on its own and season with a little salt and pepper!

Our own Stanhill Farm asparagus harvest is now in full swing and we currently have a special offer available! £2.50 per bunch or 2 for £4.00! Subject to availability. You can read lots more about asparagus, including a delicious recipe, in the May edition of Dartford Living Magazine.

We are pleased to announce that our 2024 Maize Maze will be opening in July, and this year's theme will be RNLI Lifeboats, to mark the RNLI’s special 200th year of lifesaving! Please keep an eye on the Maize Maze page of our website or our Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter social media pages for further details regarding our chosen maze design, opening date and prices.

Peaches and nectarines should be available soon, however, they will be expensive to begin with at the start of the season. The price usually then comes down as the season goes on and more become available.

We are currently sourcing Magic Star apples from Roughway Farm, Tonbridge. Bramley and Gala are still English but are being sourced from the wholesale market.

We are now in between the winter crops which are coming to an end, and the new season’s crops which will soon be ready to harvest. As a result, we are currently only harvesting asparagus, parsnips and rhubarb. Fresh from the fields and zero food miles!

All of the above are available to buy from both our Farm Shop and Click & Collect Service. Subject to availability.
