Stanhill Farm News!

Thank you so much to everyone who took part in National Doughnut Week! Our doughnuts flew off the shelves and we raised a fantastic £500.00! This has been sent to The Children's Trust, the UK's leading charity for children with brain injury and neurodisability. We would like to give a big shout out to Swanley Bakery, who not only produced the delicious doughnuts, but also kindly donated them! Thank you so much! We hope everyone enjoyed trying the different doughnuts, whilst raising money for an amazing charity!

The weather has been against us and this has unfortunately slowed down the growth of the strawberries. However, they are now beginning to turn red so it shouldn't be too long until we are able to open. Berries and Beans Café will be opening around the same time as the Pick Your Own, so please keep an eye on the PYO page of our website or our Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter social media pages for updates.

The British asparagus season runs from May to June and is considered to be the best in the world! When buying asparagus choose firm but tender stalks with a good colour and closed tips. Before cooking, wash in cold water and remove the ends of the stalks. Boil or steam until just tender (4-7 minutes depending on thickness). Alternatively, try it in a stir-fry, blend into soup or simply boil on its own and season with a little salt and pepper!

We now have English asparagus available, priced at £5.00 per bunch, the same price as last year. Farmer Toby planted a field of asparagus in 2022 and it needs two years establishment before we can harvest it, therefore, this time next year we will have our own asparagus ready to harvest.

We are pleased to announce that our 2023 Maize Maze will be opening in July, and this year's theme will be Time Travel. In celebration of 60 years of Dr Who, come to Stanhill Farm and lose yourself with our very own Dr Moo on an adventure through time in our field of the fourth dimension! Discover how farming has changed over a millennia and help Dr Moo get the troublesome Time Tractor back to the present. Please keep an eye on the Maize Maze page of our website or our Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter social media pages for further details regarding our chosen maze design, opening date and prices.

Peaches and nectarines are now available, however, they are expensive as it is the start of the season. The price usually comes down as the season goes on and more become available.

We are now in between the winter crops which are coming to an end, and the new season’s crops which will soon be ready to harvest. As a result, we are currently only harvsting rhubarb. Fresh from the fields, zero food miles and no plastic!

All of the above are available to buy from both our Farm Shop and Click & Collect Service. Subject to availability.
