Stanhill Farm News!

For any marmalade makers, we have Seville oranges available. Seville are ideal for making marmalade, although every bit of the fruit from the zest to the juice and pips can be used in cooking. The season for Seville oranges is very short so make the most of them while you can!

Blood oranges are also now in season. A rather gruesome name for a wonderfully sweet and beautifully coloured fruit. The inside flesh of a Blood orange is usually brilliantly dark pink, maroon or even dark blood red. A fantastic source of vitamin C and rich in other essential antioxidants!

Many of our customers have been missing our scotch eggs over the past few months, as the producers had temporarily halted supply due to collection issues. We asked them for an update and regret to inform you that unfortunately they cannot restart production for us. This is due to problems with the poly boxes being delivered to them, the expense and the impact on the environment. Poly boxes are what the scotch eggs need to be stored in to keep them fresh and chilled during collection.

As a result, we are now looking for a new producer to source our scotch eggs from, so watch this space and hopefully we will have them again soon – fingers crossed they will be as good! As soon as we find somewhere new we will post updates on our website, social media pages and on this blog.

From the 19th - 26th February it is Real Bread Week! This is an international celebration of real bread and the people who make it. It is time to kick the additive-laden supermarket loaf habit and support your local producers! We love our daily bread, delivered fresh each morning (except Sundays) by our local bakery and offering a wide variety of delicious loaves including Bloomers, Farmhouse, Granary, GI and Wholemeal, not forgetting soft and crusty rolls.

We are currently harvesting sprouts, kalettes and leeks. Fresh from the fields, zero food miles and no plastic!

All of the above products are available to buy from both our Farm Shop and Click & Collect Service.
