Stanhill Farm News!

We were very pleased to see the back of the snow as it caused several problems on the farm. It made harvesting conditions very difficult, and we were unable to dig carrots until they thawed as they were completely frozen into the ground! Not to mention the volume of mud now the snow has melted, which will be even worse for a couple of weeks! As beautiful as the snow looked, we are welcoming the arrival of spring!

English Forced rhubarb is now available, sourced from the Rhubarb Triangle in West Yorkshire, famous for producing early Forced rhubarb. The rhubarb is kept in complete darkness and pickers then pull the stalks in candlelight, as any exposure to strong light will stop the growth. Forced rhubarb is priced at £6.50 per kilo, more expensive than the rhubarb cut later in the year due to the specialised way in which it is grown and harvested.

We still have Blood oranges, Seville oranges and nadorcotts available. These delicious citrus fruits are very popular and the seasons are short, so make the most of them while you can!

We are now stocking a new range of healthy, balanced, freezer to microwave meals! Produced locally in Kent by a company called ‘Prepped’. Each meal packs a nutritional punch, with balanced macros, high protein content, no added sugar, and low calories without compromising on flavour and still remaining satisfying. By sourcing as many local seasonal ingredients as possible and choosing plastic free packaging, Prepped strive to help you achieve your health and fitness goals in an ethically responsible way.

Ideal for meal preppers, work from homers or anyone who simply doesn't have the time or inclination to cook, but who wants to eat something wholesome and nutritious rather than always opting for a takeaway. Priced at £5.50 each.

From the 20th - 28th February it is Real Bread Week! This is an international celebration of real bread and the people who make it. It is time to kick the additive-laden supermarket loaf habit and support your local producers! We love our daily bread, delivered fresh each morning (except Sundays) by our local bakery and offering a wide variety of delicious loaves including: Bloomers, Farmhouse, Granary, GI and Wholemeal, not forgetting soft and crusty rolls.

We are currently harvesting January King, Savoy and Tundra cabbages, Purple and Orange bunched carrots, Purple Sprouting broccoli and Green kale. Fresh from the fields, zero food miles and no plastic!

All of the above products are available to buy from both our Farm Shop and Click & Collect Service.
