Stanhill Farm News!

We opened our 2018 Maize Maze on Saturday 21st July, and we have received lots of very positive feedback so far! As you can see from the photo, this year's design is a stag and is based on a safari theme, finding and collecting wild animal species but is based in the UK. The game stations explore information around key species and explain some of the amazing facts about even our most common and familiar creatures.

At the end of our Maize Maze season, one very lucky person will WIN a family day ticket (2 adults/2 children) to Howletts Wild Animal Park in Canterbury! To be in with a chance, you just need to complete the maze and fill out the game card correctly, along with your contact details. You will then be automatically entered into our prize draw! Good luck! Please see the Maize Maze page of our website for full details including prices and opening times.

It has been another bumper year on the Pick Your Own, but the heatwave meant that all our strawberry varieties came up at once, and the lack of rain has made for a very challenging year. However, despite the weather, we've seen a later strawberry crop appear, along with raspberries, blackberries and currants. We are still picking Runner beans, Fine beans, beetroot and tomatoes, and we have just started picking sweetcorn, baby corn and sunflowers. Please see the Pick Your Own page of our website for full details of what we have available.

The heatwave and lack of rain has had a devastating impact on farming across the country and has resulted in price hikes for many fruits and vegetables. This week there has been a shortage of Iceberg lettuces, causing the price to increase, and last week we saw price increases for potatoes, carrots and onions. We're being told that due to a huge potato shortage, it is likely that by Christmas the price of potatoes could rise considerably.

We've been busy on the farm harvesting Runner beans, French beans, Spring greens, Pointed cabbage, Primo cabbage, Baby sweetcorn, sweetcorn, courgettes, marrows, yellow tomatoes, green kale, red kale, cavolo nero and carrots.
