Stanhill Farm News!

We have had an amazing start to the PYO strawberry season, with huge amounts of strawberries being picked! However, the hot weather we've been having has caused all the different varieties to ripen at the same time so the season will be shorter than last year, with a bit of a gap until the later varieties come through. To avoid disappointment, please come along soon! Strawberries are priced at £4.85 per kilo. Other crops to follow later in the season. Please keep an eye on our website or Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages for Pick Your Own updates.

Thank you so much to everyone who took part in National Doughnut Week! Our doughnuts flew off the shelves and we raised £188.33, plus an extra £58.00 in our collection box. We rounded this off to a total of £300.00 which has been sent to The Children’s Trust, the UK's leading charity for children with brain injury and neurodisability. We hope everyone enjoyed trying the different doughnuts, whilst raising money for an amazing charity!

Tomato plants and Runner beans have now been planted in the polytunnels on the Pick Your Own. This is the first time we have planted Runner beans in polytunnels, but we are hoping that by doing this, it results in a slightly earlier crop.

Runner beans have also been planted outside, along with courgettes, marrows, sprouts, pumpkins and squash. We are now harvesting Pointed cabbage, spring greens, rhubarb and strawberries.

We should now be planting Kalettes, however, there has been a mix up with the seed company so unfortunately we haven't received any seeds to plant. We are currently looking to source them elsewhere.

English peas and Broad beans are now available in the farm shop. English cherries are expected to be available at the end of June, however, for any cherry lovers out there we have Spanish or Greek cherries available. They are currently priced at £8.00 per kilo, a lower price than previously but this price is expected to come down further as the season continues. Nectarines, peaches and Flat peaches are available in the farm shop.

Our Maize Maze is continuing to grow well. The design company have been in to mark out our design, which then enabled Farmer Jeff to get to work on cutting out the design.
