Stanhill Farm News!

We are now harvesting Kalettes (previously known as Flower sprouts). This delicious vegetable is a cross between a Brussels sprout and kale, they look like tiny cabbages with flashes of purple, edged with green frilly leaves. Much milder and sweeter than Brussels sprouts and with a distinct nutty flavour. Kalettes were put in the veg boxes last year and many customers popped into the Farm Shop to buy more because they enjoyed them so much. Easy to cook, simply place in boiling water for four minutes, season and serve.

We are also busy harvesting Purple Sprouting broccoli, broccoli, Primo, Savoy and Pointed cabbages, Red kale, kale, spring greens, cavolo nero, sprouts, sprout tops, purple carrots, carrots, leeks and parsnips.

It has been another bumper year for pumpkins and our Pumpkin Patch was once again, extremely busy and popular. We grew a lot more pumpkins this year and also increased the size of our patch to keep up with demand, the weather has also been kind to us once again which was a bonus! Thank you to everyone who came along to the farm to buy pumpkins, your custom and support is much appreciated.

All of our regular online home collection and veg box customers will have now been informed by letter that we will be ceasing this part of our business. It has been a difficult decision for us, and after much deliberation and trying other ideas we are unable to see a way forward to keep this part of our business viable. Our Farm Shop, Pick Your Own and Maize Maze enterprises are unaffected and remain trading as normal. We shall cease trade with this part of our business on Monday 13th November 2017, therefore, our last collection days will be Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th November 2017.

Although we shall stop taking online orders, our website will be kept up to date with all things happening on the farm, the latest produce in season and the best deals in the Farm Shop. We would like to take this opportunity to thank customers, both old and new, for your custom and support over the years and we hope to see you pop into the Farm Shop in the near future.
